The Candidates page includes healthcare-specific filters that help you narrow your candidate search based on professional qualifications, clinical expertise, work environment, and patient population served.

Each filter represents a different aspect of a candidate's healthcare experience. You can use a single filter to perform a broad search or combine multiple filters to find candidates who closely match your hiring requirements.

Note: The available filter values depend on the candidate information available in your organization.

Before You Begin

1. Sign in to Sense.
2. From the left navigation menu, click Candidates.
3. In the Filters panel, scroll down to the Custom Filter section.
4. Locate the following filters:
   • Discipline
   • Specialty
   • Setting
   • Population
5. Click the Select... field for any filter and choose one or more available values.

Understand the Candidate Filters

When a candidate's resume is processed, Sense identifies healthcare-related information and categorizes it into standardized fields such as Discipline, Specialty, Setting, and Population. These categorized values are then available as filters on the Candidates page, making it easier to search for candidates based on their professional background and experience.

The Discipline, Specialty, Setting, and Population filters use standardized dropdown values. Select one or more available values from each filter to narrow your candidate search.

You can use any filter individually or combine multiple filters to narrow your search results.

The following table explains what each filter represents, provides example values, and describes when you might use each filter.

Tip: Specialty describes what the candidate specializes in, while Setting describes where the candidate gained that experience.

Combine Multiple Filters

You can apply a single filter to perform a broader search or combine multiple filters to narrow your results.

For example, you can:

• Select a Discipline to find candidates from a specific healthcare profession.
• Add a Specialty to focus on candidates with experience in a particular clinical area.
• Select a Setting to identify candidates who have worked in a specific healthcare environment.
• Add a Population to find candidates with experience caring for a particular patient group.

Using multiple filters together helps you identify candidates who more closely match your hiring requirements.

Example 1: Hire a Cardiology Registered Nurse

Suppose you're hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Cardiology, who has worked in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and primarily cared for Adult patients.

This combination helps narrow your search to candidates who closely match the role requirements.

Example 2: Hire a Surgical Registered Nurse

Suppose you're hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Surgical Care, who has worked in a Stepdown Unit and primarily cared for Adult patients.

This combination helps identify candidates whose clinical experience aligns with the hiring requirements.

Best Practices

• Start with a broader filter, such as Discipline, to return a wider group of candidates.
• Add Specialty, Setting, and Population filters to progressively narrow your search results.
• Combine multiple filters when hiring for roles that require specific clinical expertise, healthcare environments, or patient population experience.
• If your search returns too few or no candidates, remove one or more filters to broaden your search.
• Review the filtered results and adjust your selections as needed to identify the most suitable candidates.
