Mapping ATS Fields in Sense

Overview

The ATS Field Mapping page allows you to map fields from your ATS to the corresponding standard fields in Sense.

Sense uses these mappings across workflows, templates, candidate matching, and other features that rely on ATS data. The ATS field you select determines which data Sense reads from your ATS.

You can also configure writeback fields to specify where Sense should write data back to your ATS. 

Important: Select the exact ATS field that corresponds to each Sense field. Your ATS may contain fields with similar names but different data, such as mobile and phone.

Access ATS Field Mapping

To access the ATS Field Mapping page:

1. Navigate to Configuration > ATS Field Mapping page.
2. The Mapping of your ATS field page displays the available entities and their corresponding Sense and ATS fields.

Understand the ATS Field Mapping page

The mapping page is organized by Entity. Entities represent the types of records that you can map, such as:

• Internal Employee
• Candidate
• Job
• Job Submission
• Placement
• Appointment
• Client Company Employee
• Client Company
• Candidate Reference
• Certification
• Lead
• Opportunity
• Sense Candidate Lead
• Sense Candidate Match
• Sense Contact Lead
• Consent
• Sense AI Applicant
• Task

Select an entity from the list to view and configure its fields.

Mapping columns

The mapping table includes the following columns:

You can use the search bar at the top of the page to find a specific Sense, ATS, or writeback field.

Map an ATS field

To map an ATS field:

1. Select the Entity you want to configure.
2. Locate the required Sense Field.
3. In ATS Field to Read, select the corresponding field from your ATS.
4. If you want Sense to write data back to your ATS, select the corresponding field in Writeback Field of ATS.
5. Repeat the process for the remaining fields you want to configure.
6. Select Save Changes.

Your field mappings are saved, and Sense can use them wherever the mapped fields are required.

Configure Writeback Fields

You can use the Writeback Field of ATS column to choose where you want Sense to send data back to your ATS. You can use SenseIQ to identify the correct field for mapping, making it easier to match your ATS fields with the corresponding Sense fields.

Below is an example of how to use SenseIQ:

For example, you can map:

Sense Field → ATS Field to Read → Writeback Field of ATS

This allows Sense to read data from the appropriate ATS field and, where supported, write data back to the corresponding ATS field.

Writeback configuration is optional and depends on whether the field needs to be updated in your ATS.

Choose the correct ATS field

Your ATS may contain multiple fields with similar names or purposes. Always verify that you select the field that contains the data Sense needs.

For example, your ATS might contain separate fields for:

• Mobile
• Phone
• Work Phone
• Home Phone

Selecting the wrong field can cause Sense to read or write incorrect data.

Before saving your mappings, verify that each selected ATS field corresponds to the intended Sense field.

Review and save your changes

After configuring the mappings:

1. Review the ATS Field to Read selections.
2. Review any Writeback Field of ATS selections.
3. Make sure you have selected the correct fields for each entity.
4. Select Save Changes.

If you have made changes but don't want to keep them, select Discard Changes.

Note: Field mapping is typically a one-time configuration. If you change an existing mapping later, review the impact on workflows, templates, matching, and other features that use the mapped field.

Best practices

Follow these guidelines when configuring ATS field mappings:

• Map fields to their exact counterparts. Don't select a field simply because its name looks similar.
• Verify the data stored in the ATS field before mapping it.
• Review similar fields carefully, particularly fields such as phone numbers, email addresses, names, and locations.
• Configure writeback fields only when required.
• Review existing mappings before changing them, as other Sense features may depend on them.

Troubleshooting

Sense is displaying incorrect data

Check the ATS Field to Read mapping for the affected field. Make sure you've selected the ATS field that actually contains the expected data.

A field is not available in the dropdown

The fields available for mapping depend on the fields provided by your ATS. If the expected field isn't available, verify that the field exists and is available through your ATS integration.

Sense is writing data to the wrong ATS field

Review the Writeback Field of ATS mapping for the affected Sense field and select the correct ATS field.

I changed a mapping and existing functionality is affected

Review the updated mapping and compare it with the previous configuration. Because Sense features can rely on mapped fields, changing an existing mapping can affect how data is read or written.
