What is the Email Deny List?
With the introduction of Workflows, Sense has also made internal updates to how it handles certain email addresses that have resulted in a hard bounce. As of April 2026, Sense will mark any additional email send attempts to a previously hard-bounced address with the following classification in analytics:
Recipient is part of “email deny” list
How does Sense define a hard bounce?
Sense treats the following errors from the recipient’s email service provider as a hard bounce:
- Invalid email address
- Domain not found
- Mailbox is deleted
- Mailbox no longer exists
- Recipient is unknown
These errors are considered fatal and permanent.
Does Sense suppress hard bounces globally?
Yes. Recruiting organizations often have access to the same candidate data. If Sense receives any of the above hard bounce signals for a candidate, it will suppress that email address from being used across other unrelated agencies as well.
What advantage does global suppression provide?
Sense performs this suppression globally to enhance email reputation across its customer base. Continued email sends to hard-bouncing addresses are discouraged by internet service providers. Repeated attempts can negatively impact your email deliverability.
This feature acts as a form of “herd immunity” against hard-bouncing contacts.
