This checklist is to help make sure you have covered all your bases after you have designed a chatbot conversation and set it up in the conversation designer. It is recommended that you review this checklist before you hit the "build" button, or else you will have to build a new bot!
This checklist also contains a few resources and tips for common issues.
[1] Spell Check
- This conversation is free of spelling, grammatical, orthographic errors, etc. (Tip: draft conversations in a word document where you can use spelling and grammar checkers before adding your copy to the conversation designer.)
- Double-check buttons, select options, and error messages.
- Pay special attention to common errors like hyphenation, unnecessary capitalization, vague pronoun references, etc.
It never hurts to have a style guide at the ready if you have questions about spelling, grammar, and other style concerns. We recommend referring to these ones!
When in doubt about hyphenation, double-check! Here are some examples of common compound adjectives that should always be hyphenated:

[3] Length
- Length of the conversation is manageable. (Question length suggestions below are for a single path. Your conversation might have multiple branches and/or paths, and thus, you will have more than the recommended questions in your conversation total.)
- For Data Enrichment Conversations:
- SMS conversations: 3-5 questions are ideal (not including greeting, closing, etc.).
- Webchat conversations: 5-7 questions are ideal (not including greeting, closing, etc.).
- For Pre-screening Conversations: There is more wiggle room in Pre-screening conversations to have more questions than Data Enrichment conversations.
-
-
- SMS conversations: aim not to go over 7-10 questions (not including greeting, closing, etc.).
- Webchat conversations: no recommended maximum number of questions. Although this is true, still be mindful of the bandwidth of your users!

[4] Clarity of Copy
- Unless the questions are dependent or very related, it is recommended that you should only have one question per node.
Instead of doing this:
Split questions up like this:
- If asking a question that could filter a candidate out, make sure your copy makes it clear that this is a requirement for the role (versus phrasing that makes it sound like you are checking on a candidate’s preference).
✗Are you able to work overtime outside of your normal shift?
✓Being available to work overtime is required for this role. Are you able to work overtime outside of your normal shift?
- Authorizations, legal questions, etc. (work authorization, background/drug screens, etc.) (Also a good idea to keep these last)

[5] Jump-to Logic
- If there is any "jump-to" logic in the conversation, the jump is going to the intended location in the conversation.
